Howard H. McClure III

Howard serves as president of First United Insurance Solutions.  First United is in the process of closing their second insurance acquisition in Oklahoma.  Annual revenue of the insurance group will total $9,500,000. Plans for expansion include:  acquisitions in Texas to partner with the bank’s recent expansion as well as hiring sales and resource talent in Texas and Oklahoma.

Prior to joining First United in October, Howard was president and chairman of the board of Fifth Third Insurance Agency.  He set the strategy and led the acquisition of two agencies with total revenue of $ 19,000,000.Howard was also responsible for Fifth Third’s $17,000,000 life insurance business and $6,000,000 title insurance company—Vista Title.

Prior to joining Fifth Third, Howard was president of Palmer & Cay of Texas.  He re-launched Palmer & Cay in Texas in June of 2015 after leading Palmer & Cay’s/ Wachovia’s Southwest territory (based in Dallas) from 2002 to 2007 (Palmer & Cay sold to Wachovia in 2005).  Under Howard’s leadership, the Dallas office grew from $3,000,000 in revenue in 2002 to $17,000,000 when he left in 2015.

From 2007 to 2012, Howard led Wachovia and then Wells Fargo’s (post sale) insurance business in NC and SC.  As Regional Managing Director, he led the largest broker in the Carolinas with 60 million in revenue, 250 team members and 7 offices.

From 2012 until re-joining Palmer & Cay, Howard led Wells Fargo’s Southwest region (based in Dallas).  His territory included offices in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Lubbock, Albuquerque, Denver, and Colorado Springs.  The Southwest region was consistently the top performing region in terms of growth and profitability.

Prior to joining Palmer & Cay in 1998, Howard was VP of Chubb’s worldwide field operations for Chubb’s Financial Institutions group.  He also held numerous underwriting, marketing and leadership roles over the course of his 16 years with Chubb in locations including: Houston, Charlotte, Seattle, Singapore/Asia Pacific, Dallas, Atlanta and the headquarters in Warren, NJ.  Howard joined Chubb after graduating from Colorado College with a BA in business.  He graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas. Howard was born and raised in Dallas and lives there with his wife.  His two grown children also live in Dallas and he enjoys playing golf with his son and tennis with his daughter.   He is a founding member of a Vistage Group in Dallas and attends Highland Park United Methodist church.
